Brian Lee was born and raised in Appleton, Wisconsin and began painting at an early age. Aside from taking art classes in high school he received no formal art training but learned various painting techniques through persistent experimentation. At a young age, he created portrait drawings in pencil as well as landscape paintings utilizing mediums such as oil, acrylic and pastel. By the age of twenty he realized he had a passion for watercolor and has concentrated on this medium ever since. “I became fascinated with the freshness and transparency of the watercolor and the beauty of combining lights and darks with the effects of shadows”. Brian has created watercolors as a hobby most of his life while maintaining a career in the engineering field. Since 2012, Brian has resided in Mauldin, SC with his wife Mary Sue.

Brian is a member of the Metropolitan Arts Council in Greenville, SC and has exhibited his work in various art fairs in Greenville. In addition, Brian has done commission paintings of homes of friends and families capturing the subtle details unique to the homeowner. “It is my goal to convey a feeling of peace and tranquility through my paintings, harmonizing lights, darks and the natural beauty of the location”.
